In 1997-2005 Irene was Chairwoman of Civil Development Center “Alternative”. “Alternative” was the only organization which was closely involved in Georgian – Ossetian Conflict resolution process. The organization supporting peaceful initiatives and public participation into the conflict resolution process.

In 1997-2005 she implemented more than 20 projects.

Irene is one of the authors of Georgian CSO Ethics Code and author of number publications about Local Self Governance and Civil Society development.

She is board member and founder of several Georgian Civil Society Organizations.

From 2005 till 2012 Irene was Deputy Head of Prisons’ Department of Georgia and was in charge of Human Rights and Social Issues.

She had graduated Tbilisi Ivane Javakhishvili University, department of psychology. She had studied NGO Government Relations in Glasgow University.
