On December 24, there was held a concluding event of the “First time at the self-government elections” campaign, jointly organized by the Civil Society Institute and the Youth Center of Khelvachauri City Hall, at which active and successful young participants of the campaign were awarded certificates.
The purpose of the campaign was to raise awareness among young people, especially those taking part in the self-government elections for the first time, about the essence of self-governance, forms of citizen participation and electoral procedures. 104 young people from Batumi, Khelvachauri, Ozurgeti, Chokhatauri, Shuakhevi and Gori municipalities participated in the campaign. Participants of the campaign had the opportunity to obtain theoretical knowledge and then share it with young people living in their own community.
The “First time at the self-government elections” campaign has been implemented by the Civil Society Institute within the framework of the “Building a Robust Alliance of Local Development Actors in Georgia” projects (Phase II), with the support of the German organization “Bread for the World” and in partnership with Youth Centers operating at target municipalities as well as the Civil Development Center – Progress House.
