Challenges Of Kakheti Region – 2007

On June 27 2007 Tsinandali residence hosted a presentation on “Challenges of Kakheti Region – 2007” which was attended by donor agencies and foreign embassies in Georgia. The speaker – Governor of the President of Georgia in Kakheti Region Gia Natsvlishvili, presented the core projects under way and the challenges the region is facing. Further, a documentary on Kakheti region was presented.

The presentation was held within the limits of the project focusing on cooperation between civil society and Government. The project is the initiative of the Governor of the President of Georgia in Kakheti region and is implemented in partnership with Civil Society Institute and Open Society Georgia Foundation. The main goal of the project is to contribute to cooperation between representatives of civil society and local government, activation of not for profit organizations on a local level, involvement of civil society representatives in the process of problem determination and problem solution.

To this end the project envisions series of activities, including organization of donor coordination meetings in Kakheti region. Within the limits of the project, trainings and public meetings shall be held. The latter shall contribute to involvement of civil society in local policy making and effective administration planning processes.
