Meeting With South Ossetia Administration And Adjara Government

On August 11-14, 2007, meeting of South Ossetia Administration and Adjara Autonomous Republic Government members has been held in Batumi Inturist Palace Hotel Conference Hall that formed stage one of South Ossetia Administration Institutional Development and Support Project.

Meeting by the title of Cooperation for Integration and Development aimed at strengthening of ties between South Ossetia Administration and Adjara Autonomous Republic Government and sharing of experience.

The meeting has been attended by Chairman of the Adjara Autonomous Republic Government Mr. Levan Varshalomidze, South Ossetia Head of Administration Mr. Dimitry Sanakoev, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Georgia to USA, Canada and Mexico Mr. David Sikharulidze, Parliament of Georgia Legal Issues Committee Chairman Mr. Levan Bejashvili, Deputy Chairman of the Supreme Court of Georgia Mr. Zaza Meishvili, Member of Parliament of Georgia Mr. Shota Gvenetadze, Ajdara Autonomous Republic Supreme Council Chairman Mr. Mikheil Makharadze and members of South Ossetia Administration and Adjara Autonomous Republic Government.

The meeting has been comprised of several parts. First part has been dedicated to review of Georgian Legislation, including main aspects of the Constitution of Georgia and issues related to legislature, executive power and judicial authority.

Apart for discussion meetings, South Ossetia Administration representatives became acquainted with specifics of Adjara Autonomous Republic Government operation visiting the Ministry of Finance and Economics, Ministry of Agriculture, Ministry of Culture and Sport and Ministry of Labor, Health and Social Protection, Constitutional Court of Georgia and Batumi City Court.

The even has been arranged by the Civil Society Institute in cooperation with and with financial support of Open Society – Georgia Foundation and active support of Mr. Dimitry Sanakoev, Head of South Ossetia Administration and Mr. Levan Varshalomidze, Chairman of the Government of Adjara Autonomous Republic.
