Building A Robust Alliance Of Local Development Actors In Georgia

Project goal

Enhance capacities and competencies of civil society (local organizations, active citizens, and youth) and local authorities, as well as improve an enabling environment to let them spend joint efforts to facilitate sustainable and inclusive development at the local level.

Project objectives

  • Create an enabling environment for civil society that considers advocacy-lobbying on such issues as mechanisms for state funding and municipal grants, mechanisms for stimulating economic activities, as well as a financial package to encourage volunteering; besides, promotion of civil society initiatives and support to accountability and transparency of CSOs on the interactive platform www.csogeorgia.ge;
  • Build capacities of local self-government representatives and other development actors: via e-learning, through the portal e-learning.ge; using short educational videos and competitions created on the basis of youth needs assessment that was carried out in Guria, Batumi, and Shida Kartli regions;
  • Enhance participatory approaches at the local level to stimulate civic engagement: multi-stakeholder participatory activities – promotion of joint training, participatory budgeting, civil monitoring; assess the quality of participatory approaches in Batumi, Kobuleti, Ozurgeti, Chokhatauri, and Gori municipalities and assist local self-governments in implementation of needs-based activities through a benchmarking process.
